Una Presentación “Especial” de Toy Story 3

Para niños afectados con Autismo y otras discapacidades, el sentarse calladitos durante una pelicula – algo que se considera buenos modales - es un reto tremendo!

Es por esto, que los padres de individuos con discapacidades o necesidades especiales, muchas veces no pueden disfrutar la increible experiencia de ver peliculas en familia en los cinemas modernos.

En Agosto del 2008, 10 areas de los Estados Unidos empezaron un progama piloto/especial de Peliculas para Sensibilidades Sensoriales.  Este programa se esparció rápidamente a mas de 40 áreas y 82 cines.  En la Florida, cuatro ciudades participan en el programa; Jacksonville, Tampa, Vero Beach y Gulf Breeze.

El Breeze Cinema 8 en Gulf Breeze empezó el programa en Noviembre 2009.  Al principio, el público respondió muy bien pero recientemente ha mermado la participación.  Por lo tanto, estan considerando eliminar el programa, pero antes de decidirlo, tendrán una presentación especial de Toy Story 3 el próximo 10 de Julio, 10am.

Las Peliculas para Sensibilidades Sensoriales se dan con el volumen mas bajo de lo normal, las luces interiores se dejan medio prendidas y esta dirigido a familias afectadas por Autismo y otras discapacidades.  Las personas se pueden levantar, caminar dentro del teatro, gritar, cantar o bailar sin preocupaciones.  Para aquellos que no pueden mantener su enfoque o atención por largo tiempo, no se enseñaran “cortos” o anuncios.  Si dieta especial es un problema, las familias pueden llevar algo de su casa.
 
“Estas peliculas dan la oportunidad a familias con niños o adultos discapacitados para conectarse mutuamente sin temor a molestar a otros clientes” dijo Lisa Moreno, gerente del Breeze Cinema 8.

¡Para poder continuar este programa, un mínimo de 50 personas deberán atender el 10 de Julio! La presentación esta abierta tanto a familias con personas de necesidades especiales y cualquier individuo que quiera ir.

A “Special” Presentation of Toy Story 3

For children affected by Autism and other disabilities, sitting quietly during a movie – typical etiquette expected at the cinema - is an extremely challenging proposition!

Because of this, parents of special needs children are sometimes unable to experience the awesomeness of watching a movie with their kids at a state of the art movie theater.

In August 2008, 10 markets across the United States began a pilot program of Sensory Sensitive Movies.  It quickly spread to over 40 markets and 82 theaters. 
In Florida, four cities participate in the program; Jacksonville, Tampa, Vero Beach and Gulf Breeze. 

The Breeze Cinema 8’s program started in November 2009.  It was well received but recently the attendance has not been as good. Because of this, The Breeze is considering stopping the program but first will do a special showing of Toy Story 3 scheduled for Saturday, 10 July at 10 am. 

Sensory Sensitive Movies are a special showing featuring lower volume and a lighted theater catering to families affected by autism and other disabilities.  Audience members are welcome to get up, roam around, shout, sing, or dance without worry.  For those with short attention spans, no previews or advertisements will be shown.  If diet is an issue, families can bring their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks.

“The movies are a chance for families with disabled children and adults to connect with each other without the fear of disrupting other customers” said Theater Manager Lisa Moreno.

To continue the program, a minimum of 50 people must show up on 10 July!  This special showing is open to special needs families and anyone that wants to come out.
