El Gobernador Charlie Crist Reconoce a los Ganadores del Concurso del Mes de la Heredad Hispana
TALLAHASSEE- El Martes 12 de Octubre, el Gobernador de Florida, Chalie Crist, anunció a los ganadores de la Excelencia  Educativa del Mes de la Herencia Hispana y otros concursantes.  Los maestros y estudiantes fueron honrados en la celebración anual del Mes de La Heredad Hispana, "Reconociendo el Mes de la Herencia Hispana: Pasada, Presente y Futura," en la Mansión del Gobernador.  Acompañando al Gobernador Crist estaba el artista Luis Núñez, cuyas pinturas estaban en exhibición en la Rotunda del Capitolio y en la Mansión del Gobernador durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana.  Varios dueños de negocios, un grupo de Eglin Air Force Base Hispanic Heritage Committee y miembros de sus familias y La Costa Latina también estuvieron presentes.
     "El Mes de la Herencia Hispana es verdaderamente un tiempo excepcional para demostrar la importancia de la Comunidad Hispana de Florida y su influencia en el éxito de nuestro estado hoy dia y en el futuro," dijo Crist.
     Tres educadores Hispanos destacados fueron honrados con el Trofeo de Excelencia en Educación.  Cada uno recibió un premio de $1,500.  Ms. Tina, el Punto De Luz, de Fort Walton Beach, también fué reconocida.
     Dos estudiantes fueron reconocidos por su excepcional trabajo artístico.  El concurso de arte enfocó a  los  animales que son nativos de Florida y a su habitat natural.  Cada estudiante recibió a una tarjeta de regalo de $250.  Anthony Reboucas, de  8 años, ganó por su pintura de un pájaro  spoonbill (pico de cuchara).

Governor Crist Recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month Contest Winners
Anthony ReboucasTALLAHASSEE – On Tuesday, October 12, Florida Governor Charlie Crist announced the winners of the Hispanic Heritage Month Excellence in Education Award and student contests.  The educators and students were honored at the annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, “Recognizing Florida’s Hispanic Heritage: Past, Present and Future,” at the Governor’s Mansion.  In attendance with Governor Crist was artist Luis Núñez, whose paintings were on exhibit in the Capitol Rotunda and at the Governor’s Mansion during Hispanic Heritage Month. Several Hispanic business owners, a group from Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, and La Costa Latina were also in attendance.
     “Hispanic Heritage Month is truly an exceptional time to showcase the importance of Florida’s Hispanic-American community and its influence on our state’s success both now and in the future,” Crist said.
     Three outstanding Hispanic educators were honored with the Excellence in Education Award. Each received an award check for $1,500. Points of Light recipient, Ms. Tina, of Fort Walton Beach, was also recognized.
     Two students were recognized for their exceptional artwork. The art contest focused on animals that are native to Florida and their natural habitats. Each winning student received a $250 gift card. Antony Reboucas, 8, was a winner for his painting of a spoonbill bird.
     In addition, three students were also recognized for their outstanding essays about well-known Hispanic Floridians whose contributions have made a difference. High school and middle school essays addressed Hispanic-Americans whom have devoted his or her life to the service of others. Each student essay winner will receive a four-year full tuition scholarship to any Florida state college or university, provided by Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
     The evening’s events featured Latin Attitude, a Latin jazz band based out of Tallahassee.
