Wal-Mart Subvenciona Proyecto para Nuevo Refugio |
Wal-Mart Supports New Shelter Project Pensacola, Fla. – Waterfront Rescue Mission received a $50,000 grant from The Wal-Mart Foundation this past week to assist with their new shelter being built on Herman Street. The Florida State Giving Council, which is a coalition of the Wal-Mart stores in Florida, chose Waterfront because of the rescue and recovery services they provide. “Waterfront not only feeds and serves the homeless, they offer many programs that help get people back on their feet, they serve a vital role and fill a critical gap and we are excited to be able to help them expand their services with this new shelter,” said Bob Hart, Northwest Florida Market Manager with Wal-Mart. This grant money will be focused on the kitchen and dining area, which will be increasing from 655 square feet at the current downtown Mission to over 3,500 square feet allowing for many more individuals to be served. Mick Breault, Waterfront Rescue Mission President stated, “We were honored to be selected out of hundreds of organizations across the state, this grant will go a long way in building a facility that can meet the needs of the poor and homeless.” While Waterfront has received some grant money to fund the new shelter, the majority of the funding is coming from the community.
