Family Seeks Help to Take Mother’s Remains to Home Country Alba Martinez had one wish, to see her sons again. Her story was aired on a local news station several times until her wish came true after some political pressure to approve their Visas. Two of her sons arrived on Christmas Eve, another on New Year’s Eve. Her wish was not unlike many immigrants who are separated from their families when they come to the United States, but Alba had Leukemia. She died last week. She leaves behind husband, Obed Ramos, her children, Javier, Edwin, Emanuel, Carlos and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Honduras. She was 44. The family is making arrangements to have her buried in Honduras and have raised more than half of the funds they need, but they need help. As we often do in this community, we are all coming together to lend a hand. An account has been opened at Gulf Coast Community Bank in the name of the Alba Martinez Foundation (#3012093). Anyone from out of town can mail it to La Costa Latina (P.O. Box 284, Pensacola, FL 32591) and we will be happy to deposit it for you. Please help. |
