Parada del Día de Veteranos |
Veterans Day Parade Joslyn Rosado Flags waved and music played as the Veterans Day parade made its way down Main Street in downtown Pensacola towards the Veterans Wall Memorial. The parade began at 9 a.m. on Veterans Day with high school JROTC members marching and doing drills, followed by floats from different organizations in Pensacola. Members of the Hadji Shrine passed out mini American flags to children along the street as they drove by. La Costa Latina joined the parade as well by making a float commemorating the Hispanics who have received the Medal of Honor. Northwest Florida Boricuas Ausentes followed with live salsa music performed by Dalena and Augie. “I wanted to participate because this was the first time that we were invited so that we could represent and show support for the Latino veterans,” said Jose Garcia Ramos, president of Boricuas Ausents. Ramos, who is a Vietnam War veteran, says his father served in World War II, two brothers also served in Vietnam, and his son served in the Persian Gulf War. |
