Pensacola Recuerda

En recordatorio de el decimo aniversario del 9/11, Pensacola tendrá una conmemoración el domingo 11 de septiembre en el Martin Luther King Plaza, la cual está en la intercesión de Palafox y Garden.
    Xinia Marin, una artista Costarricense con Peter King comenzó  la construcción de el arco de cerámica el 10 de septiembre, 2001 pero después de que ocurriera la  tragedia al día siguiente decidieron cambiar el concepto y dedicarlo al 9/11, se nombró “9/11 Homenaje a América.” Es el primer monumento en el mundo dedicado al 9/11.
     El arco se ha exhibido en el Museo de Arte de la Américas en Washington, DC, Vero Beach Museo de Arte y en la Galería StoneHaus en Coral Gables antes de llegar a su destinación final en el centro de Pensacola. Su dedicación original en Pensacola fue el 11 de septiembre, 2004, tercer aniversario del 9/11.
     El publico esta invitado a la conmemoración que será de 4 a 7 p.m. Una paloma será soltada a las 5 p.m. Traiga su silla o cobija para que se siente y pueda recordar y reflejar. También habrá invitados que darán discursos, música en vivo, comida y confraternidad.

Pensacola Remembers

In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Pensacola will be hosting a memorial on Sun. Sept. 11 at the foot of the Martin Luther King Plaza, which is at the intersection of Palafox and Garden.
Xinia Marin, a Costa Rican artist along with Peter King began construction of a ceramic archway on Sept. 10, 2001, but after the tragedy that occurred the next day, they decided to change the concept and it turned into a dedication to 9/11 called “9-11 Homage to America.” It is the first 9/11 memorial in the world.
     It has been on display in Washington DC’s Art Museum of the Americas, Vero Beach Museum of the Arts and StoneHaus Gallery at Coral Gables before it reached its final destination in downtown Pensacola. Its original dedication in Pensacola was on Sept. 11, 2004, the three year anniversary of 9/11.
     The public is invited to attend the memorial, which will be held from 4-7 p.m. There will be a dove releasing at 5 p.m. Bring chairs and blankets to sit on as you remember and reflect. There will also be guest speakers, music, live music, food and fellowship.
