El Centro de Recursos Hispanos Colectando Comida Tras Fuego
Un fuego durante horas de la mañana destruyo la cocina y almacén de comida de Appetite for Life el jueves 18 de agosto. La organización sin lucros localizada en la calle Cervantes de Pensacola prepara y distribuye comida nutritiva sin recibir pago a personas infectadas con enfermedad mortales. Sin estas comidas, muchos de sus clientes sufrirían muertes prematuras debido a mala alimentación.
     Con un personal de tres y 58 voluntarios, Appetite for Life le sirve a 34% de la populación con VIH/SIDA en el condado de Escambia y sus dependientes, 61 de ellos niños. Casi todos de sus clientes a la cual se le lleva la comida son inválidos. Ellos son la única agencia en el condado de Escambia que provee  servicios a los clientes con VIH/SIDA y sus dependientes.
     Un día después del fuego, La Costa Latina comenzó a recaudar comida en el Centro de Recursos Hispanos para ayudar a recomponer su dispensa de comida. Por dos días generosos donantes pararon en el Centro a traer bolsas y cajas de comida. HAS, Hispanic  Action Society ayudo a colectar comida en su actividad de Regreso a la Escuela el 20 de agosto.
     Nos dieron una jira del edificio quemado cuando regresamos con la segunda carga de donaciones de comida en lata y comida seca en cajas. El personal de Appetite for Life estuvieron muy regocijados de conocer el equipo de La Costa Latina y expresar su agradecimiento. Ellos se enteraron sobre la colecta de comida por medio de la televisión, radio y reportaje en el periódico. Los irónico es que la semana pasada tuvieron una reunión sobre como pudieran mejor  asistir a la comunidad Hispana y aquí estamos nosotros ayudándoles a ellos.  
     Nos hemos cometidos a continuar la ayuda hasta que todo regrese a la normalidad. Debajo encontraran una lista de artículos básicos que ellos necesitan para seguir alimentando cuerpos y espíritu!  Se le pide a la comunidad de que pasen por el Centro de Recursos Hispanos con su donación de las siguientes comidas.

Hispanic Resource Center Collecting Food After Fire
     A morning fire destroyed the kitchen and food pantry at Appetite for Life on Thursday, August 18. The non-profit organization located on Cervantes Street in Pensacola prepares and delivers nutritious meals at no charge to persons infected with terminal illnesses. Without these meals, many of their clients suffer premature death due to malnutrition.
     With a staff of three and 58 volunteers, Appetite for Life serves 34% of the HIV/AIDS population in Escambia County (FL) and their dependents, 61 of which are children. Most of their delivery clients are shut-ins. They are the only agency in Escambia County that provides these services to HIV/AIDS clients and their dependents.
     On the day after the fire, La Costa Latina began a food drive at the Hispanic Resource Center to help rebuild their food supply. For two days, generous donors stopped by the Center to deliver bags and boxes of food. The Hispanic Action Society (HAS) also helped by collecting food at their Back-to-School picnic held on August 20.
     We were given a tour of the scorched facility when we went to deliver the second truckload full of canned and boxed goods. The staff at Appetite for Life was elated to meet the staff from La Costa Latina to express their gratitude. They had heard of the food collection through TV, radio and newspaper reports. The ironic thing, they said, was that they had just held a meeting the week before and talked about how they wanted to look for ways to assist the Hispanic community, and here we were helping them.
     We have committed to keep the help coming until they are back on their feet. Below is a list of basic items that they need to resume feeding bodies and spirits! The community is asked to stop by the Hispanic Resource Center and drop off the following food items.

- Instant potatoes
- Peanut butter
- Jelly
- Mac and cheese
