Presentación Maya en Pensacola
     El 21 de abril, Maria del Carmen Tuy Tococh, una educadora profesional de Cultura Maya, de Guatemala, presentará una explicación del Calendario Maya en Pensacola State College Hagler Auditorium. La presentación es gratis al público y empezará a las 6 pm.
     Algunas teorias sugieren que el mundo terminará el 12 de Diciembre, 2012, (12/12/12) porque ellos creen que esta es la fecha en que el calendario maya termina..pero es esto cierto? Maria del Carmen viaja desde su hogar en Guatemala a Pensacola para explicar el Calendario Maya, sus simbolos y como leerlos.
     Maria el Carmen Tuy Tococh es Kaqchiqel Maya y ha ejecutado ceremonias mayas en San Francisco State y en La Universidad de Berkley anualmente durante varios años. Ella ha sido reconocida por el estado de California por "continuar las tradiciones y sabiduria de los mayas y por crear puentes culturales entre los Mayas de Guatemala y la gente."
     Esta presentación es posible por La Costa Latina Newspaper, Pensacola State College Multicultutal Committee, el Consejo Maya Ticoj (una organización maya en los Estados Unidos) y la Universidad de West Florida Latino American Student Association(LASA).

Mayan Presentation in Pensacola

     On April 21, Maria del Carmen Tuy Tococh, a Guatemalan professional educator on Mayan culture, will present an explanation of the Mayan Calendar at the Pensacola State College Hagler Auditorium. The presentation is free to the public and will begin at 6 p.m.
     Some theories suggest that the world will end on December 21, 2012 (12/21/12) because they believe that this is the date that the Mayan calendar ends…but does it? Maria del Carmen is coming from her home in Guatemala to Pensacola to explain the Mayan calendar, it’s symbols, and how to read it.
     Maria del Carmen Tuy Tococh is a Kaqchiqel Maya and has performed Mayan ceremonies at San Francisco State and Berkley University annually for several years. She has been recognized by the State of California for “carrying on the traditions and wisdom of the Maya and for building cultural bridges between the Maya of Guatemala and the people.”
