Inmigrantes Son Blanco de Allanamiento de Morada, La Comunidad Latina Únese para Ayudar a las Victimas
     La oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Baldwin (Alabama) dice que han arrestado a tres personas en conección a un asesinato y robo ocurrido en el County Road 12 en Foley, el Lunes 26 de Diciembre, 2011. Las victimas eran dos inmigrantes Hispánicos. Los dos fueron baleados, uno falleció.
     Los reportes del Alguacil dice que las investigaciones preliminares revelaron que el trio fué a la casa con la intención de robar a las victimas de dinero y otros valuables. Hubo una pequeña lucha con las victimas resultando en un hombre Hispano golpeado en la cabeza. Los tres hombres se fueron a otra casa donde balearon a los dos hombres Hispanos.
     Los reportes también indican que las victimas fueron seleccionadas porque eran inmigrantes y no reportarían el crimen por miedo de problemas con migración o comunicación.
     La comunidad Hispana de Foley rápidamente organizó una recaudación de fondos para ayudar a las victimas y sus familias. El Consulado Hondureño ayudó con los arreglos funerarios y el transporte.
     Las gentes de Alabama, Pensacola y Fort Walton Beach fueron muy comprensivas,’’ dijo Cirilo Hernández, un Distribuidor Independiente de Herbal Life en Foley. ‘’Donaciones de uno y dos dólares de gentes de todas las nacionalidades en el área ayudaron a hacerlo en tres semanas.’’
     Hernández explicó que hubo muchos grupos de Latinos en Foley, que se reunieron y trabajaron juntos para ayudar a organizar la recaudación de fondos.
     ‘’Nos reuniremos otra vez para ver si se necesita algo más,’’ añadió Hernández.
     El Oficial Alberto Lugo, Hispanic Relations Officer del Departamento de Policia de Foley, urge a los Latinos a estar concientes del peligro de los allanamientos de morada y otros crímenes que tienen como objetivo a los inmigrantes, Él ha publicado un panfleto que está disponible en Inglés y Español el cual contiene consejos para reducir el riesgo y lo que las victimas deberian de hacer. The Baldwin County (Alabama) Sheriff’s office says they have arrested three people in connection with a capital murder and robbery that occurred on County Road 12 in Foley on Monday, December 26, 2011. The victims were two Hispanic immigrant men. Both were shot, one was killed.
     Sheriff’s reports say the preliminary investigation revealed that the trio went to one home with the intent to rob the victims of currency and other valuables. There was a brief struggle with the victims resulting in one Hispanic male being struck in the head. The three then went to another home where the 2 men were shot.
     Reports also indicate that the victims were selected because they were immigrants and would not report the crime for fear of problems with immigration or communication.
     The Hispanic community of Foley quickly organized a fundraiser to assist the victims and their families. The Honduran Consulate helped with funeral and transportation arrangements.
     “People from Alabama, Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach were supportive,” said Cirilo Hernandez, an independent Herbal Life distributor in Foley. “One and two dollar donations from people of all nationalities throughout the area helped make it happen within about three weeks.”
     Hernandez explained that there were many in a group of Latinos in Foley that met and worked together to help organize the fundraising.
     “We will meet again to see if there is additional need,” Hernandez added.
     Officer Alberto Lugo, Hispanic Relations Officer of the Foley Police Department, urges Latinos to be aware of the risk of home invasions and other crimes targeted at immigrants. He has made a brochure available in English and Spanish that contains tips on reducing the risk and what victims should do.
