Restauración Cierra Gulfarium Temporalmente
Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.- El Gulfarium, que ha ofrecido a millares de visitantes entretenimiento y experiencias educaciónales desde su apertura en 1955, cerrará hasta Mayo 2012 para la primera fase de mejoras en el parque para aumentar las experiencias de los visitantes. El parque abrirá después de las restauraciones que aumentarán el cuidado de los animales, la educación y las diversiones. La segunda fase de la restauración será en el otoño.

Incluidos en la restauración habrá cambios para convertir el Gulfarium en un parque marino avanzdo, incluyendo sistemas nuevos de filtración de agua para mejorar el medio ambiente marino y asegurar la salud de los animales. También habrá cambios en el programa que añadirán oportunidades para la interacción en el agua con un número de animales marinos, convirtiendo el Gulfarium en una experiencia práctica, única en el noroeste de Florida.

El Gerente general, Patrick Berry dijo que la decisión de cerrar el parque mientras las restauraciones se llevan a cabo es para asegurar que los cambios sean hechos tan pronto como sea posible mientras se aseguran que todos los animales van a continuar siendo cuidados lo mejor posible.

Ningún empleado a tiempo completo ha sido afectado por el cierre y ellos no sólo continúan cuidando a los animales sino que varios miembros del equipo han contribuido sugerencias para el mejoramiento del parque.

Berry dijo que realzar las oportunidades para que los visitantes puedan interactuar con la vida marina es uno de los aspectos más excitantes de la restauración del parque. ‘’Planeamos que nuestros huéspedes conozcan a nuestros animales de una forma que nunca ha sido posible antes,’’ dijo él. ‘’Queremos aumentar la experiencia del visitante y que los huéspedes del parque partan sabiendo que han tenido una oportunidad única de ver e interactuar con estos maravillosos animales.

El gulfarium está también explorando oportunidades de traer nuevas especies de animalea a la restaurada facilidad y avanzar las oportunidades para investigación.

Gulfarium Temporarily Closes for Renovations
Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. - The Gulfarium, which has provided millions of visitors with an entertaining and educational experience since opening in 1955, will be closed through May 2012 for the first phase of park improvements to enhance the visitors’ experience. The park will reopen following renovations that will maximize animal care, education and entertainment. The second phase of renovations will take place this fall.

Included in the renovations will be changes to make the Gulfarium a state-of-the art marine park, including new water-filtration systems to improve the marine environment and ensure the animals’ health. There will also be program changes that will add opportunities for in-water interactions with a number of marine animals, making the Gulfarium a hands-on experience unique to northwest Florida.

General manager, Patrick Berry said the decision to close the park while the renovations are taking place is to ensure that the changes can be made as rapidly as possible while also making certain all animals will continue to be cared for to the highest standards.
No full-time staff members have been affected by the closing, and they not only continue to care for the animals, but several staff members have contributed input on park upgrades.

Berry said enhanced opportunities for visitors to interact with marine life are one of the most exciting aspects of the park renovation. “We are planning for guests to meet our animals in ways that were never available before,” he said. “We want to enhance the visitor experience and have our park guests leave knowing they have had unique opportunities to see and interact with these marvelous animals.

The Gulfarium is also exploring opportunities to bring in new species of animals to the renovated facility and further opportunities for research.
