“For Every Day and For Everyone: Applying Dr. King’s Dream Today” The University of West Florida (UWF) invites the public to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Mainstage Theatre, Building 82. This event will promote and showcase diversity amongst people who are endeavoring to live his dream. This event is free and open to the public; however, due to limited seating attendees must obtain a ticket. Contact Alesia Ross aross@uwf.edu or 850-474-2423 for ticket availability. The event will feature acclaimed poet and spoken word artist Shelton “Shakespear” Alexander as well as a variety of cultural performances including the An Broc Irish Dancers, Okinawa Japanese Drummers, Sidona Belly Dancers, and Belmont Youth Band, to name a few. A panel of politically and socially active community members will lead the audience in a discussion about current efforts to apply Dr. King’s dream to our lives today. Sponsored by the UWF Black Employee Association (BEA) with support from the UWF Pace Symposium Series, this event is a part of the Pensacola Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration Commission (M.L.K.C.C.C.).
