The winner joined the group of aspirants to the title of Miss Latin America of the World 2012 in representation of the Latino/Hispanic population of the United States and followed her national title win one week later with a proud sixth place finish at the international finals also held in Riviera Maya and won by Guatemala’s delegate Georgina Mendez. She also attained recognition for her accomplishments beyond pageantry, receiving the important continental queen award for North America and the Caribbean that distinguishes her for academic excellence and outstanding life achievements. The MISS LATINA USTM Pageant was developed in the United States to recognize the personal and cultural attributes of young Hispanic women beyond their physical beauty. For Latina woman in the US, this program represents a chance to compete in a traditional pageant that welcomes their identification with their Hispanic ancestry. It awards them the opportunity to win on their own merits, without regard to their ethnicity. To the contrary, their ethnicity is celebrated.
