"Los Nativo-Americanos y la Milicia de EE.UU.: Pasado y Presente" en la Biblioteca de Crestview
|
“Native Americans and the U.S. Military: Past & Present” at the Crestview Library American Indians have participated with distinction in U.S. military actions for more than 200 years, with American military leaders recognizing their courage, determination, and fighting spirit as early as the 18th century. From serving as Indian Scouts after the Civil War and accompanying General Pershing in his pursuit of Pancho Villa to the Code Talkers of World War II and duty in every conflict since, Native Americans historically have the highest record of service per capita compared to other ethnic groups. Retired Lt. Col. Kirby Locklear, a member of the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina, will discuss all this and more at the November 6th First Tuesday series program “Native Americans and the U.S. Military: Past & Present” at the Crestview Public Library. Discover why the warrior tradition qualities inherent in many Native American societies make a perfect fit with military tradition. The library is located at 1445 Commerce Drive behind the Post Office in north Crestview. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with coffee and cookies served starting at 10 a.m. Call 682-4432 for more information. |
