Cuban-American actor, Chaz Mena, to take to the Mobile Saenger Stage as Don Bernardo de Galvez August 27, 2012 - Mobile, AL - Chaz Mena, the New-York based actor of Cuban descent, will take to the Mobile Saenger Stage as Don Bernardo de Galvez, former Governor of Louisiana during the Revolutionary War who helped the Colonies defeat the British, in "Yo Solo/I Alone" during a public performance on Saturday, September 22nd at 8 p.m. "Yo Solo/I Alone" pays a perfect complement to the Memory Project, as Chaz will focus on De Galvez's exploits from Baton Rouge to Mobile before solidifying the Spanish contribution to the American Revolution at the Battle of Pensacola. This show represents the premiere collaboration between the CLA, The Mobile Symphony Orchestra and the University of South Alabama's new Museum of Archaeology. Members of the MSO will provide musical accompaniment for the show. Afterwards Chaz will join a panel of scholars, including Dr. Gregory Waselkov, Director of the Archaeology Museum from the University of South Alabama, Margo Stringfield from the University of West Florida Archaeology Institute and Larry B. James of the South Carolina State Park Service. The four will discuss the historical and cultural contexts involved in developing the show by examining the local cultures of New Spain as evidenced by archeological research.
