Patrullas de Carreteras de Florida Arrestan 548 por DUI
TALLAHASSEE,Fla.—Col. David Brierton, director de Patrullas de Carreteras de Florida, anunció hoy los resultados preliminares de la aplicación de la participación de la Patrulla en el movimiento nacional Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over (Maneje Sobrio o lo Sacaremos) del 12 de Dic. 2012 al 2 de Enero 2013.  La Patrulla reforzó su fuerza haciendo que los patrulleros postpusieran sus obligaciones administrativas para patrullar las carreteras y añadiendo reservistas y tropas auxiliares a la obligación de patrullar.
     Los patrrulleros extendieron más de 39,000 citaciones de tráfico e hicieron 548 arrestos por manejar Bajo la Influencia de alcohol o drogas. Citaron a más de 13,600 motoristas por exceso de velocidad y más de 2,500 por no abrocharse el cinturón durant la campaña.
     Las agencias  enforzadoras de la ley en el estado reportaron un total de 58 muertos debido a choques durante el periodo de la campaña.
     "Nuestros patrulleros estaban en las carreteras para ayudar a los residentes de Florida y visitantes a disfrutar de unas fiestas seguras y agradables," dijo Brierton. " Cada año los miembros de la Patrulla cumplen con su deber de identificar a los motoristas peligrosos  y removerlos de las carreteras, asi como tomar las pasos apropiados para  combatir comportamientos arriesgados de manejo."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Col. David Brierton, director of the Florida Highway Patrol, today announced the preliminary enforcement results from the Patrol’s involvement in the nationwide Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign Dec. 12, 2012 – Jan. 2, 2013.  The Patrol beefed up its force by having troopers postpone administrative duties in favor of road patrols and adding reservists and auxiliary troopers to patrol duty.
     Troopers issued more than 39,000 traffic citations and made 548 arrests for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs. They cited more than 13,600 drivers for speeding and more than 2,500 for failure to buckle up during the campaign.
      Law enforcement agencies across the state reported a total of 58 people died in traffic crashes during the campaign period.
     “Our troopers were out on the roadways to help Florida residents and visitors have a safe and enjoyable holiday period,” said Brierton.  “Every year the members of the Patrol do their part to identify unsafe drivers and remove them from the roadways, as well as take the appropriate steps to deter unsafe driving behaviors.”
     The members of the Florida Highway Patrol remind everyone that it is the law to Move Over when approaching any authorized emergency vehicle or wrecker displaying rotating or flashing lights stopped on the side of a roadway.
