El Valor de la Educación
|
The Value of an Education By Izamar Martinez The ability to successfully and amicably communicate with people is a must for most careers. For 30 year old Marcos Rafael Casillas, this skill comes naturally and in both Spanish and English. The people at Bob Tyler Toyota in Pensacola took notice and promoted Casillas to sales in March 2012, just two months after employing him. Casillas’ Associates Degree in Automotive Service Management from Florida Community College in Jacksonville, Fla. trained him for work as a mechanic; however, the need for a translator prompted the moved from mechanical work to the service desk to sales. Casillas’ skills and education have led him to a job that he enjoys. His parents, Marcos and Teresa Casillas, began the long and difficult process of moving to the United States from Mexico City for the sake of their children 15 years ago. Casillas admits that he was not always as focused as he is now. At 17, he dropped out of school but was quickly taught the value of an education by his father. “My father told me, ‘I respect your wishes, but you will have to work harder than you think without an education.’” Casillas said. He discovered the truth of his father’s words when he tried to find work without a complete education, but with maturity and loving support from his wife Sarah comes the satisfaction of looking forward to a more prosperous future. He is grateful for the opportunities that he has been given at Bob Tyler Toyota. Casillas adds, “Believe and work hard. Dreams can come true.” |
