El Condado de Mobile le da la Mano a la Preparatoria Murphy 
Hoy los comisionados del Condado de Mobile donaron 20 computadoras a la Escuela Preparatoria Murphy (Murphy High School) en un gesto para ayudar a la escuela a recuperarse de las perdidas devastadoras cuando un tornado toco tierra en la Navidad.
     Los tres comisionados votaron recientemente en una junta pública para donar las computadoras en vez de venderlas en un sitio de subastas en línea, que ha sido la forma para deshacerse del inventario excedente.
     En lugar, los comisionados dijeron en la última junta pública que ellos preferirían donar las computadoras a la escuela Murphy para ayudarles a reconstruir sus bienes.
     El Condado de Mobile entrego 20 computadoras IBM con monitores y teclados el 20 de Marzo a la Vice-Presidenta Patricia Hunter. Cada una está cargada con el sistema operador Windows XP. Las computadoras fueron puestas en una camioneta  para entregarlas a la escuela Preparatoria Clark-Shawn donde los estudiantes de Murphy actualmente residen hasta que su escuela sea reconstruida.
      El inventario excedente del condado es resultado de una  actualización de las computadoras de los comisionados.  Un número menor de computadoras fueron donadas a otras agencias en el área que necesitan ayuda, incluyendo  el Refugio de Animales Prichard (Prichard Animal Shelter) y el Centro Comunitario Dumas Wesley (Dumas Wesley Community Center).

 

 Mobile County Gives Hands-Up to Murphy High
Murphy High School, Mobile, ALMobile County commissioners today donated 20 computers to Murphy High School in a gesture to help the school recover from the devastating losses of a Christmas Day tornado that struck the landmark school.
     All three Mobile County commissioners voted at a recent public meeting to donate the computers to Murphy High rather than to sell them at an online auction site, which has been the usual practice for disposing of surplus inventory. 
     Instead, the commissioners said at the last public meeting that they preferred to donate the computers to Murphy to help the school rebuild its assets. 
     Mobile County turned over 20 IBM computers with monitors and keyboards on March 20 to Murphy Vice-Principal Patricia Hunter.  Each is loaded with the Windows XP operating system. The computers were loaded onto a truck for delivery to Clark-Shaw High School where students of Murphy reside temporarily until their school is rebuilt.
     The county surplus is the result of an upgrade to the county commission’s desktop computers. Smaller numbers of computers were donated to other agencies in the area that indicated a need, including the Prichard Animal Shelter and Dumas Wesley Community Center.
