Aaron Hernandez, del paraíso al infierno

Este año se esperaba que Aaron Hernandez fuera un jugador determinante en la ofensiva de los Patriotas de Nueva Inglaterra. Este chico atrapó 51 pases, avanzó 483 yardas y logró cinco touchdowns la temporada pasada. Es ese tipo de jugador que puede desempeñarse por todo el campo con la misma efectividad. Puede conseguir las atrapadas por el centro, e igualmente alinear como receptor por el perímetro. Su talento es inmenso, llegó al Pro Bowl en apenas su segunda campaña en la liga y por esa razón Nueva Inglaterra buscaba retenerlo a largo plazo y le ofreció un contrato de 40 millones de dólares el verano pasado.
     Pero el 2013 ha sido un año de inmensos contrastes para Hernandez y ahora se encuentra en la cárcel de Massachussets acusado de homicidio y posesión de armas por la muerte de Odin Lloyd un jugador semiprofesional, novio de la hermana de su novia.
     Tras este suceso, fue despedido de la organización de inmediato y con el mayor de los repudios, al grado de ofrecer a los aficionados que ya hubieran comprado el jersey de Hernández un canje gratuito por el Jersey de cualquier otro jugador del equipo.
     Además de eso, los Patriotas anularon todas las garantías del contrato de Hernández lo que significa que el ex ala cerrada tendrá ahora que pelear para recibir siquiera la porción de su bono al que ya se había hecho acreedor.
     Pero todos los involucrados pierden en un suceso como este pues también en el lado deportivo es un duro golpe para la directiva de Nueva Inglaterra. Jake Ballard ahora tomará el rol de Hernandez como el segundo ala cerrada. Ballard tiene experiencia pero no tiene la misma habilidad, versatilidad o atleticismo de Hernandez por lo que la decaída en talento es significativa.
