Reimagine Worldwide Takes Help to Peruvians By Josh Brown In the District of Lima, Peru, a populated mountainous area with dirt roads and thatched roofed houses was the destination of about 90 volunteers from the Reimagine Worldwide Organization. These volunteers ranged from dentists to ministers, young to old, and multiple ethnicities of Americans from Pensacola. Together—with charity and love in their hearts along with their combined skills and resources—the group built 9 houses that replaced the traditionally thatched or cardboard-roofed homes in Santa Rosita. The dentists that traveled to Peru with the group in May, performed about 440 procedures to 250 locals in the area. Unlike other ministries and non-profit organizations that go to Peru and other countries to share religious values, Reimagine Worldwide says that for the last 5 years they have also been continually building homes and creating a communal bond between the team members and Peruvians. Linda English, founder of Reimagine Worldwide, plans to return to Peru in December of this year to continue the organization’s charitable and compassionate goal of promoting positive change in communities around the world. The December trip will focus on building a modern housing complex to become the new home for about 30 children in the Santa Rosita area. Reimagine Worldwide also works in neighborhoods in Pensacola. The next local event is being held October 19th in Brownsville where the organization will use resources from local businesses, churches, organizations, and individuals to address needs of communities. |
