Imogene Theatre Celebra 100 Años Con El Espectáculo de Variedades

Milton, FL- Piense en la vida hace 100 años.
     Se obligaba a las mujeres a no pintar y ciertamente no podían votar . Menos del 14 % de todas las casas tenía una bañera . El fútbol fue prohibido casi como un deporte, debido a la cantidad de muertes cada año . Pocas casas tenían radios y la televisión todavía no era inventado. No existia impuesto a la renta. Tampoco el Seguro Social, Medicare o Medicaid. Cientos de miles de autos fueron vendidos cada año, con pocas carreteras pavimentadas. El precio medio de una vivienda era menos de $ 3.000. Un galón de gasolina costaba 27 centavos ... Y el Theatre Imogene en Milton fue construido.
     El Theatre Imogene, originalmente llamado "Milton Auditorium," fué terminado en 1913 como el epicentro de la vida social en el centro del condado de Santa Rosa. El edificio fue utilizado como una casa de ópera, un lugar para que las bolas de lujo, obras de teatro, espectáculos de Vaudeville y exposición de fotos. El nombre fue cambiado en 1925 a su apodo actual.
     Por lo tanto, ahora es el año 2013. El teatro cumple 100 años de antiguedad en este mes. Y una celebración está en orden. El edificio no sólo sigue en pie , si no tambien sigue siendo una instalación totalmente funcional a los bailes, cine en casa, bodas y recepciones, obras de teatro, eventos musicales, recitales, además contiene un museo histórico completo.
     Panhandle Community Theatre (PCT ) y el Santa Rosa Historical Society ( SRHS ), los propietarios de Imogene, se han asociado para traer una gran celebración del 100 aniversario de este edificio histórico. El espectáculo se titula "Star-Spangled Salute to our Troops - An Old-Fashioned Touring Variety Show Honoring Our Military."
     La producción es un homenaje militar de variedades (similar a los espectáculos de USO de la Segunda Guerra Mundial) con cantantes, bailarines, los comedias infantiles, magos, segmentos cómicos e imitadores de famosos.
     " Todo el espectáculo esta basada en la década de 1940. Casi cada acto tiene un enfoque en las fuerzas armadas", dijo David Cook, director de la obra .
     Los espectaculos seran el 27 al 29 septiembre y  del 4 al 5 de octubre.
     Los actos incluyen los "Clickin Cloggers", actos de baile y canto de niño de "Time to Shine! Center for Performing Arts," imitadores de de celebridades como: Shirley Temple, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball y Abbott y Costello. Una presentación especial del mago Mike Waldo será el titular en la serie final, y para una muestra única, una rutina de baile de la "Dance Academy of Santa Rosa."

Imogene Theatre Celebrates 100 Years with Variety Show

Milton, FL—Think about life 100 years ago.
     Women were encouraged not to paint and certainly couldn't vote. Less than 14% of all households had a tub. Football was almost banned as a sport because of the amount of deaths each year. Few homes had radios and television wasn't invented yet. Income tax didn't exist. Neither did Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Hundreds of thousands of cars were sold every year, with few paved roads. The average price for a home was less than $3,000. A gallon of gas cost 27 cents…And the Imogene Theatre in Milton was built.
     The Imogene Theatre, originally named "Milton Auditorium," was completed in 1913 as the epicenter of social life in central Santa Rosa County. The building was used as an opera house, a place for fancy balls, plays, Vaudeville and picture shows. The name was changed in 1925 to its current moniker.
     So, now it's the year 2013. The theatre is 100-years old this month. And a celebration is in order. The building is not only still standing, but remains a fully-functional facility to house dances, movies, weddings and receptions, plays, music events, recitals, plus contains a full historical museum.
     Panhandle Community Theatre (PCT) and the Santa Rosa Historical Society (SRHS), the owners of the Imogene, have partnered together to bring a huge celebration of the 100th Anniversary of this historic building. The show is entitled "Star-Spangled Salute to our Troops - An Old-Fashioned Touring Variety Show Honoring Our Military."
     The production is a military tribute variety show (similar to the USO Shows of World War II) with singers, dancers, kid acts, magicians, comedy skits and celebrity impersonators.
     "The entire show will be set in the 1940s. Almost every act has a focus on the military," said David Cook, the show's director.
     The show dates are September 27-29 and October 4-5.
     Acts include the "Clickin' Cloggers," dance and song kid acts from "Time to Shine! Center for Performing Arts," celebrity impersonators of Shirley Temple, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and Abbott and Costello. A special appearance by magician Mike Waldo will be the headline in the final show, and for one show only, a dance routine from the "Dance Academy of Santa Rosa."
