Dos Delfines Preñadas en el Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park
Ft. . Walton Beach , Florida - 6 de noviembre de 2013 - Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park se complace en anunciar los embarazos de dos delfines nariz de botella del Atlántico residente, Delilah y Lily. Ambos se deben de dar a luz en la primavera de 2014, después de un período de gestación de un año.
     Mientras Delilah, de 39 años, ha sido madre tres veces a lo largo de los muchos años que ha vivido en el Gulfarium, este es el primer embarazo de Lily, 10, que ella misma nació en Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park en abril de 2003. El personal es cautelosamente optimista, ya que los delfines no tienen éxito a menudo en su primera vez. El entrenamiento de los animales y equipo veterinario utiliza tecnología de ultrasonido, mientras que la hembra pone voluntariamente en la superficie del agua, lo que permite la posibilidad de seguir el desarrollo del feto y controlar la salud y el bienestar de las madres - a-ser durante todo el embarazo.
     "Estamos muy entusiasmados con el potencial de las crías de delfines en el Gulfarium", dice Chad Stouffer, Director de Manejo de Animales. "Sabemos que esto es algo que la comunidad no ha visto desde hace algún tiempo y estamos tomando medidas para asegurar el mejor resultado posible".
     Durante el invierno, los visitantes del parque son propensos a ver algunos cambios en el hábitat de los delfines en la preparación para el nacimiento inminente, incluyendo una reorganización del sistema de muelles flotantes para crear un parto ampliado y el área de enfermería. La mayoría del trabajo se producirá durante un breve cierre del parque en la primera semana de diciembre. Además, se modificará el contenido del espectáculo de delfines para atender a los embarazos en progreso.
     Otro trabajo en todo el parque incluye una nueva cubierta para el hábitat de los animales que se encuentra más cerca de la autopista 98 ​. La corriente azul, edificio abovedado pronto será sustituida por una estructura de sombra más ágil.

Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. - November 6, 2013 - Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is thrilled to announce the pregnancies of two resident Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, Delilah and Lily. Both are due to deliver their calves in the spring of 2014, following a one-year gestation period.
     While Delilah, 39, has been a mom three times over the many years she has lived at the Gulfarium, this is the first pregnancy for Lily, 10, who herself was born at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in April of 2003. Staff is cautiously optimistic, as dolphins often do not have successful births their first time. The animal training and veterinary team uses ultrasound technology while the female voluntarily lays on the water surface, enabling the facility to track fetal development and monitor the health and well-being of the moms-to-be throughout the pregnancy.
     "We are excited about the potential for dolphin calves at the Gulfarium," says Chad Stouffer, Director of Animal Management. "We know this is something that the community has not seen for some time and we are taking steps to ensure the best possible outcome."
     Over the winter, visitors to the park are likely to see some changes to the dolphin habitat in preparation for the impending births, including a reorganization of the floating dock system to create an expanded birthing and nursing area. Most of the work will occur during a brief park closure the first week of December. In addition, the content of the dolphin show will be amended to cater to the progressing pregnancies.
     Other work around the park includes a new covering for the animal habitat that sits closest to Highway 98.  The current blue, domed building is soon to be replaced by a more streamlined shade structure.
