The Defense Department says staff Sergeant Richard Vazquez was killed on Wednesday, Nov. 13, after his unit was attacked with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Panjwai Province. Vazquez was 28 years old. His family is from Seguin, Tex. (live in LA) This was his 5th deployment. He is survived by his parents and four siblings. Staff Sergeant Alex Viola died yesterday. He was hit by an IED while on patrol in Kandahar Province. Viola was 29 years old. He is survived by his parents and a sister who live in Fort Worth. This was his first deployment since enlisting in 2009. Both men were assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion. Our deepest sympathy to the 7th who have many friends here in this area of Florida. |
