Enjoy the Holidays without Adding Extra Pounds By Evan J. Huegel There’s no question about it, people gain weight during the holidays. If we limit our bad habits to just the holidays then the damage isn’t so bad. Surveys show that psychologically we already know we will gain weight during the holidays so we indulge even further causing more damage than we have too which leaves more work for us to do during our New Year’s resolution goal efforts. I have prepared some tips to avoid those extra pounds during this season of holidays and the many more to come: • Never skip breakfast; a survey demonstrated that people who eat a good meal in the morning have a less appetite during the day especially at night. • Foods high in fiber will satisfy your hunger, but don’t have sufficient calories so you should include fruits and vegetables. • Have the same number of portions that you would normally, but have SMALLER sizes of portions. Hold up your fist, this is a good idea of what size your portion should be. • Start filling your plate with vegetables to fill in the gaps. You can literally graze on vegetables all day without gaining any weight due to fat. Look at wild animals that graze on grasses and vegetables. Have you ever seen a fat Zebra? |
