Incendio Destruye Casa, Dos Perros Rescatados

NICEVILLE - Una mujer y su familia están sufriendo después que un incendio destruyó su casa en la Ivy avenue en la tarde del martes.
     Bomberos del Este de Niceville, Niceville , North Bay y Eglin Air Force Base fueron llamados a la escena alrededor de las 1:30 p.m., dijo David Birch, jefe de bomberos asistente del Este de Niceville. Las llamas se estaban disparando desde el techo cuando los primeros equipos llegaron.
     El fuego estaba bajo control alrededor de las 2 pm No hubo heridos, dijo Birch.
     La Oficina del Jefe de Bomberos del Estado estaba investigando la causa del incendio más tarde el martes.
     Adriana Luna, la dueña de casa, todavía estaba en shock cuando vio el humo detrás de un agujero en el techo de la casa. Ella había estado en una fiesta de Navidad en el trabajo en el noroeste de Florida State College cuando se enteró de lo del incendio.
     La hermana de Adriana, Irma Luna, dijo a su madre que estaba de visita acababa de salir de la casa cuando la alarma de incendio se inició a todo volumen. Ella abrió la puerta principal para ver la sala en llamas.
     Un hombre no identificado llamó a la policía y siguió a su madre a ir a la casa por dos perros de la familia, dijo Irma.
     Los bomberos entraron y encontraron rápidamente  a Calabaza, su pit bull, miy seguro en su jaula, dijo Irma.
     "Bebé" de su madre un Shih Tzu nombrada princesa Margarita, tomó un poco más de tiempo para encontrar. Irma dijo que nunca olvidará al Jefe Auxiliar de Bomberos de Niceville Tony Lohrman dándole la señal de "OK" después de encontrar al perro.
     "Esas cosas pueden ser reemplazados", dijo Irma, señalando a la casa. "Estábamos tan preocupadas por los perros".
     Adriana se quedaría con ella, dijo Irma. La familia estaba agradecida al hombre, los bomberos, la Cruz Roja, y Presidente del Estado NWF Dr. Ty Handy, que le ofreció a su hermana un lugar para quedarse.
     Alguien incluso pagó por la visita de la princesa Margarita a un veterinario para que sea revisada después de que ella fue rescatada, dijo Irma.
     "Todo el mundo fue increíble", dijo.

     Amigos de la familia Luna han comenzado a recolectar donaciones para Luna.
     "Adriana es uno de nuestros grandes amigos aquí en la Florida. Su casa se quemó ayer y perdió todas sus pertenencias. Ella, literalmente, perdió todo, excepto lo que llevaba puesto", dijo Ricardo Leon en el post en Facebook.
     Las donaciones monetarias se pueden hacer a la familia en Eglin Credit Union mediante el depósito en una cuenta a nombre de Adriana M Bas Luna (con verificación de direcciones de 617 Ivy Avenue, Niceville, FL 32578) ó en cualquier sucursal de Wells Fargo a la cuenta número 3487070785, titulado "FOR BENEFIT OF LUNA FAMILY," en el nombre de Grace Resendez McCaffery (propietaria del Periódico La Costa Latina).

NICEVILLE — A woman and her family are reeling after a fire destroyed her home on Ivy Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
     Firefighters from East Niceville, Niceville, North Bay and Eglin Air Force Base were called to scene about 1:30 p.m., said David Birch, East Niceville’s assistant fire chief. Flames were shooting from the roof when the first crews arrived.
     The fire was under control at about 2 p.m. No one was injured, Birch said.
     The state Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause of the blaze later Tuesday.
     Adriana Luna, the homeowner, was still in shock as she watched smoke trailing from a hole in the house's roof. She had been at a Christmas party at work at Northwest Florida State College when she found out about the fire.
     Adriana’s sister, Irma Luna, said their mother who was visiting had just stepped out of the home when the fire alarm started blaring. She opened the front door to see the living room in flames.
     An unidentified man called police and kept her mother from going into the house for the family’s two dogs, Irma said.
     Firefighters went inside and quickly found Pumpkin, their pit bull, safer in her kennel, Irma said.
     Her mom’s “baby,” a Shih Tzu named Princess Margaret, took a little longer to find. Irma said she will never forget Niceville Assistant Fire Chief Tony Lohrman giving her the “OK” sign after finding the dog.
     “Those things can be replaced,” Irma said, pointing at the house. “We were just so worried about the dogs.”
     Adriana would stay with her, Irma said. The family was thankful to the man, firefighters, the Red Cross, and NWF State President Dr. Ty Handy, who offered her sister a place to stay.
     Someone even paid for Princess Margaret’s visit to a veterinarian to be checked out after she was rescued, Irma said.
     “Everybody was amazing,” she said.

     Friends of the Luna family have begun collecting donations for Luna.
     “Adriana is one of our great friends here in Florida. Her house burned down yesterday and she lost all her belongings. She literally lost everything except what she was wearing,” said Ricardo Leon on post on Facebook.
