Barca Superó al City Para Llegar a los Cuartos de Final
Barcelona, España—Ivan Rakitic anotó en el conteo del primer tiempo el miércoles para entregar en Barcelona una victoria 1-0 del partido de vuelta contra el Manchester City en el Camp Nou asi es como los catalanes avanzaron a los cuartos de final de la Liga de Campeones con un 3-1 victoria global.
     El club de la Liga tomó la iniciativa en el partido de ida de la eliminatoria cuando el ex estrella del Liverpool Luis Suárez anotó un par de goles en el Etihad Stadium del club con una ventaja de 2-1 llevada a casa.
     En el Camp Nou Barcelona volvió a tener lo mejor del juego desde el principio y en la primera oportunidad de calidad de la noche después de sólo siete minutos, cuando Neymar se escapó de la defensa del Manchester City y se fué para poder pegar con fuerza pero rebotó fuera el poste izquierdo y salió detrás para un saque de meta.
     Los catalanes abrieron el marcador a los 31 minutos cuando Lionel Messi al correr por la banda del lado derecho del campo de juego y la mirada de dos defensores del Manchester City marcándolo. Él lanzo un balón en profundidad cambiado hacia el area para Rakitic, quien hábilmente controlado con un solo toque levanto el balon por encima del portero del Manchester City Joe Hart hacia el poste derecho para una ventaja global de 3-1.
     Manchester City levantó su ritmo en la segunda mitad y respondió con una oportunidad en las etapas iniciales asi es como Yaya Touré lanzó un tiro desde fuera del área, pero pasó inofensivamente por encima del travesaño.
Los del Manchester City tuvieron una buena oportunidad para volver en el juego en el minuto 78 cuando Sergio Agüero fue derribado en el area, lo que resulto en un tiro penal, pero el disparo de Agüero fué pobre y fácilmente salvado por el portero del Barcelona Marc-Andre ter Stege.
     El tablero del cuarto árbitro mostró sólo dos minutos de tiempo añadido, que el Barcelona fué capaz de ver con facilidad para avanzar a la siguiente ronda, eliminando al último club Inglés restante de la competencia.
     En otro encuentro de este miércoles en la Liga de Campeones, Carlos Tevez anotó en par de goles con un tercer gol de Alvaro Morata cuando Juventus se puso a 3-0 en el partido de vuelta y 5-1 en la victoria global sobre el equipo de la Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund en el Signal Iduna Park.
     La Bella Signora (Juventus) tenía el control desde el principio cuando Tevez puso al club al frente despues de tres minutos Morata añadió el segundo con 20 minutos para el final.
     Tevez, el ex delantero del Manchester City puso un punto de festejo en el boleto de la Juve para los cuartos de final cuando completó su doblete en el minuto 79, poniendo fin a las esperanzas del Dortmund en la Liga de Campeones.

 

 Barca Top City to reach CL quarterfinals
Barcelona, Spain—Ivan Rakitic netted a first-half tally on Wednesday (March 18) to hand Barcelona a 1-0 second-leg victory over Manchester City at the Camp Nou as the Catalans advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League with a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
     The La Liga club grabbed the initiative in the opening leg of the tie when former Liverpool star Luis Suarez netted a pair of goals at the Etihad Stadium to stake the club to a 2-1 aggregate lead heading home.
     At the Camp Nou Barcelona again had the better of the play from the outset and carved out the first quality chance of the night after just seven minutes when Neymar slipped through the City defense and went for placement over power with his strike, but it clanged off the left post and rolled behind for a goal kick.
The Catalans opened the scoring in the 31st minute as Lionel Messi galloped into the penalty area on the right side of the pitch and looked up to see two City defenders marking him. He lofted a long switched ball across the box to Rakitic, who deftly controlled with one touch and lofted it over City goalkeeper Joe Hart into the bottom right corner for a 3-1 aggregate advantage.
     City picked up its pace in the second half and answered with a chance in the early stages as Yaya Toure let a strike go from outside the box, but it sailed harmlessly over the crossbar.
     The Citizens had a prime opportunity to get back in the game in the 78th minute when Sergio Aguero was pulled down in the box, resulting in a penalty kick, but Aguero's take was poor and easily saved by Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
     The fourth official's board showed only two minutes of added time, which Barcelona was able to see out with ease to advance to the next round, eliminating the last remaining English club from the competition.
     In Wednesday's other Champions League fixture, Carlos Tevez netted a pair of goals to go with a third strike from Alvaro Morata as Juventus rolled to a 3-0 second leg and 5-1 aggregate victory over Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.
     The Old Lady was in control from the outset as Tevez put the club in front after just three minutes and Morata added the second tally with 20 minutes to play.
     Tevez, the former Manchester City forward put an exclamation point on Juve's ticket to the quarterfinals when he completed his brace in the 79th minute, ending Dortmund's Champions League hopes.
