A Child in Honduras, Her Teacher, and Her Mother Ask People of the Gulf Coast for Assistance Zamorano, Honduras. Her teacher is Yazmin Ramirez, formerly of Ft. Walton Beach. Ms. Ramirez and Anahi’s mother are urgently seeking assistance from friends in the Gulf Coast to contribute to Anahi’s educational goals as funding for this special little girl is running out. “Occasionally, a teacher will have an exceptional student. Anahi has potential to do great things as long as she can continue her education,” Ramirez said. In a letter to La Costa Latina, Anahi wrote, “My name is Arlen Anahi Reyes Avila, and when I grow up I want to be a civil engineer. A civil engineer is a person that designs the plans for building things like a house or a road. I would like to be an engineer because when you improve and build roads you’re doing a public job and service to help the citizens in your community. ABSS is a school that teaches high skills in math to be a civil engineer. That is why I want to continue going to school at ABSS. Also, if I don´t continuing attending a bilingual school where I can keep studying English, I will forget it and it would be really difficult to become a civil engineer. If I keep studying at ABSS I’ll have more opportunities to travel to other places to study and have a better education that can help me obtain academic scholarships so that I can afford to go to university. I want to say that I will work as hard as can to be successful in life, and if you help me, I would feel like the luckiest person in the whole world because nothing would make me happier than to continue going to school at ABSS. I have been going to school at ABSS for years, and have lifelong friends that support me and encourage me to do better. I want to thank you because I never thought that anyone would consider helping me. I was wrong because people do care, and I’m thankful to know that.” A GoFundMe.com account has been set up at http://www.gofundme.com/zhvwn4 for contributions. The goal is to raise $3000 to cover Anahi’s 2015-16 7th grade year. Information about Anahi’s school ABSS can be found here http://alisonbixby.org/about/history/ Ms. Ramirez can be reached at lacana320@gmail.com for more information. |
