Mayweather Despojado del Título Peso Welter de la WBO
Floyd Mayweather Jr. ha sido despojado del título mundial de peso welter que ganó tras vencer a Manny Pacquiao este año por no cumplir con las reglas, dijo la Organización Mundial de Boxeo el lunes.
Mayweather, quien superó por 48-0 al vencer a Pacquiao, dejó ir y venir a las 4:30 ET fue fecha límite el viernes por la que tenia que pagar una cuota de sanción $200.000 desde la pelea del 02 de mayo (por la que obtuvo más de 220 millones dólares) y desalojar los dos títulos de peso mediano júnior que también posee.
Es en contra de las reglas de organización y de sanción para los boxeadores que tienen títulos mundiales en varias categorías de peso. El WBC y la WBA fueron rompiendo sus propias reglas al permitir a Mayweather en mantener sus títulos, pero la WBO respetan sus reglas.
"El Comité del Campeonato del Mundo de la WBO no tiene ninguna otra alternativa que dejar de reconocer el Sr. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. como el campeón mundial de peso welter de la WBO y dejar vacante su título, por no cumplir con nuestros reglamentos de WBO Campeon Peso Welter del Mundo" dijo la organización en un comunicado.
"La WBO tiene el máximo respeto por Floyd Mayweather Jr. y todo lo que ha realizado durante su ilustre carrera, y que el señor Mayweather siempre ha acordado con y entendido que los Campeonatos del Mundo tienen ambos privilegios y responsabilidades y que el estatus como campeón de la WBO está sujeta y condicionado al cumplimiento de las normas y reglamentos de la WBO ".

Mayweather había previsto inicialmente por no aceptar el título como parte de su post-pelea prometiendo abandonar todos sus títulos de esa manera boxeadores más jóvenes podrían tener la oportunidad en los cinturones. Pero cuando acepto el premio de la WBO, estaba obligado a pagar la cuota por el pasado viernes con el fin de mantener el título.
Mayweather puede apelar ante el Comité de Quejas y Agravios dentro de los 14 días.
Mientras tanto, el interino del peso welter de la WBO Timothy Bradley ahora recuperará el campeonato completo de la WBO.

Mayweather Stripped of WBO Welterweight Title

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been stripped of the welterweight world title he won after beating Manny Pacquiao this year for failing to comply with rules, the World Boxing Organization said on Monday.
     Mayweather, who improved to 48-0 by beating Pacquiao, let come and go the 4:30 p.m. ET Friday deadline by which he had to pay a $200,000 sanctioning fee from the May 2 fight (for which he earned more than $220 million) and vacate the two junior middleweight titles he also holds.
     It is against sanctioning organization rules for boxers to hold world titles in multiple weight classes. The WBC and WBA had been breaking their own rules by allowing Mayweather to hold their titles, but the WBO upheld its rules.
     "The WBO World Championship Committee is allowed no other alternative but to cease to recognize Mr. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. as the WBO Welterweight Champion of the World and vacate his title, for failing to comply with our WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests," the organization said in a statement.
     "The WBO has the utmost respect for Floyd Mayweather Jr. and all that he has accomplished during his storied career, and that Mr. Mayweather has always agreed with and understood that World Championships have both privileges and responsibilities and that status as WBO Champion is subject to and conditioned on compliance with the WBO rules and regulations."
     Mayweather originally planned to not accept the title as part of his post- fight pledge to vacate all his titles so younger boxers could have a chance at the belts. But when he did accept the WBO prize, he was required to pay the fee by last Friday in order to keep the title.
     Mayweather may appeal to the Complaint and Grievance Committee within 14 days.
     Meanwhile, WBO interim welterweight champion Timothy Bradley will now regain the full WBO championship.
