Inmigrantes protestan en evento de Ted Cruz en Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, AL—Miembros de la Coalción de Alabama para la Justicia del Inmigrante organizaron una protesta el martes, el 25 de agosto, durante un evento del precandidato Republicano a la presidencia, Ted Cruz, llevado a cabo en la Universidad de Alabama en Tuscaloosa.
     Las familias inmigrantes y activistas marcharon alrededor del estadio con pancartas y cantando porras para exigir al político una verdadera solución al sistema de inmigración que incluya un camino a la ciudadanía para millones de inmigrantes indocumentados que viven en Estados Unidos.
     “La propuesta de deportar a todos los inmigrantes indocumentados no sólo dañaría terriblemente a nuestras familias, también tendría un efecto demoledor para la economía de los Estados Unidos. Estamos marchando para decirle a Cruz que un candidato presidencial no va a vivir en la Casa Blanca cuando ataca a nuestras familias tan activa y directamente. Las familias inmigrantes no van a olvidar" , dijo Alejandro Guizar, organizador de la Coalción de Alabama para la Justicia del Inmigrante.
     Cruz, hijo de un inmigrante cubano, ha sido un fuerte opositor a los permisos de trabajo conocidos como DAPA y DACA ampliado, los cuales fueron anunciados por el Gobierno Federal, pero que se encuentran congelados luego de una demanda interpuesta por el Gobierno Texano y otros 25 estados, entre ellos Alabama.
     Los manifestantes de la coalición aseveraron que a pesar de ser de origen hispano, no contará con el respaldo de la comunidad latina debido a sus propuestas anti-inmigrante. El también senador por Texas llegó a Alabama como invitado especial para participar en un evento del partido Republicano que tuvo lugar al interior del estadio.
     “Tal vez sea de origen cubano, pero él no es uno de nostros” dijo Gwendolyn Ferreti, miembro de ACIJ quien asistió a la protesta.
     Los miembros de ACIJ también estuvieron presentes durante un evento del también precandidato Republicano Donald Trump en Mobile, Alabama el pasado 21 de agosto.

Ted Cruz ProtestTUSCALOOSA, AL—Members of the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ACIJ) organized a protest on Tuesday, August 25, during an event for Republican presidential candidate, Ted Cruz, conducted at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
     Immigrant families and activists marched around the stadium with banners and chanting cheers to demand a real political solution to the immigration system that includes a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States.
     "The proposal to deport all undocumented immigrants not only terribly hurts our families, it would also have a devastating effect on the economy of the United States. We are marching to tell Cruz that a presidential candidate is not going to live in the White House when he attacks our families so actively and directly. Immigrant families will not forget,” said Alejandro Guizar, organizer for the ACIJ.
     Cruz, the son of a Cuban immigrant, was a strong opponent to work permits known as DAPA and DACA, which were announced by the Federal Government, but which were then frozen in a lawsuit filed by the Texas government and other 25 states, including Alabama.
     The protesters of the coalition asserted that despite being of Hispanic origin he could not have the support of the Latino community because of its anti-immigrant proposals. The Texas senator also came to Alabama as a special guest to participate in a Republican Party event held inside the stadium.
     "He may be of Cuban origin, but he is not one of us" said Gwendolyn Ferreti, ACIJ member who attended the protest.
     ACIJ members were also present during an event the Republican candidate Donald Trump also in Mobile, Alabama on 21 August.
