OCSO Investiga Accidente Fatal a Peatón
Mary Esther, Fla.—La Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Okaloosa está investigando un accidente fatal a un peatón en Mary Esther. Agentes dicen que Joseph Leppado de 72 años, conocido como "Papa Joe,"  estaba empujando su silla de ruedas cuando él y su perro caminaban hacia el este sobre Hollywood Boulevard el sábado en la noche cerca de las 9.20 p.m. cuando fué atropellado por un hombre manejando un pick-up.  El accidente sucedió cerca de la intersección de Hollywood and Jonquil Avenue. La dirección de Leppado es 33 Cape Drive en Fort Walton Beach.
    EMS respondió y transportó a la victima al Fort Walton medical Center donde fue pronunciado muerto como resultado de sus heridas. PAWS respondió para hacerse cargo del animal.
    La causa del accidente está bajo investigación, sin embargo el OCSO dice que no cargos han sido hechos hasta ahora y no hay indicación que el conductor estaba dañado en manera alguna.

 

 OCSO Investigate Fatal Accident Involving Pedestrian
MARY ESTHER, Fla.—The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Mary Esther. Deputies say 72-year old Joseph Leppado, also known as “Papa Joe,” was pushing his wheelchair as he and his dog walked east on Hollywood Boulevard Saturday evening around 9:20 p.m. when he was hit by a man driving a pick-up truck. The accident took place near the intersection of Hollywood and Jonquil Avenue. Leppado’s home address is listed as 33 Cape Drive in Fort Walton Beach.
     EMS responded and transported the victim to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries. PAWS responded to take custody of the animal.
     The cause of the accident is under investigation, however, the OCSO says that no charges have been filed at this time and there is no indication that the driver was impaired in any way.
