Museo Nacional de Aviación Naval se Someterá a un Gran Cambio
PENSACOLA, Fla.—Los aficionados de las películas IMAX® mostradas a diario en el Museo Nacional de Aviación Naval deben planear para asistir a un espectáculo a finales de año. A partir de principios de enero, el Naval Aviation Memorial Theatre se cerrará durante dos meses para someterse a una extensa renovación, su primera renovación importante en casi 20 años.
El teatro se convertirá completamente de película a digital y se espera que la construcción dure hasta marzo.
El teatro renovado contará con un sistema de proyección 2D iluminación prima de láser que cuenta con plena resolución 4K - casi 9 millones de píxeles en la pantalla. Será el primero de su tipo instalado en un teatro institucional en el mundo, y tendrá la capacidad de mostrar películas de Hollywood.
El nuevo teatro será totalmente compatible con ADA y contará con iluminación LED, asientos más amplios, con apoyabrazos, portavasos dobles y tablas personalizadas entre la mayoría de los asientos, alfombras nuevas y un suelo de goma. El vestíbulo también recibirá un remozamiento y nuevos servicios.
El teatro también será eficiente en energía, el uso de un sistema de oscurecimiento LED reducirá el consumo de energía eléctrica en un 80 por ciento.
La película de vacaciones, "La Luz Antes de Navidad” (The Light Before Christmas), un mágico viaje invernal animado de 40 minutos, se ejecutará todos los días a las 10 a.m. a partir del viernes, 4 de diciembre hasta el jueves, 24 de diciembre.
La Fundación del Museo Naval de Aviación tiene su propia película, "La Magia de Vuelo” (The Magic of Flight), que primero se estrenó el 7 de noviembre de 1996, continuará funcionando todos los días hasta diciembre. Se convierte en el nuevo formato digital 4K para la exposición cuando el teatro vuelva a abrir. La proyección de la película final provisional de "La Magia de Vuelo" será el 31 de diciembre a las 1:00 p.m.
El desmantelamiento de equipos IMAX® antiguo y obras de renovación comenzará la primera semana de enero y se espera que dure hasta marzo.
El museo está programado para reabrir el teatro en marzo con una ceremonia de inauguración.

National Naval Aviation Museum to Undergo Major Upgrade
 Pensacola, Fla.––Fans of the IMAX® films shown daily at the National Naval Aviation Museum should plan to catch a show by the end of the year. Beginning in early January, the Naval Aviation Memorial Theatre will close for two months to undergo an extensive renovation, its first major upgrade in nearly 20 years.
The theatre will be fully converted from film to digital and construction is expected to last through March.
The upgraded theatre will feature a premium laser-illuminated 2D projection system boasting full 4K resolution - nearly 9 million pixels on screen. It will be the first of its kind installed in an institutional theater in the world, and will have the capability of showing Hollywood feature films.
The new theatre will be fully ADA compliant and will feature LED lighting, wider seating with armrests, double cup-holders and custom tables between most seats, new carpeting and a rubberized flooring. The lobby will also receive a facelift and new amenities.
The theatre will also be energy efficient, using an LED dimming system that will reduce electrical energy consumption by 80 percent.
The holiday film, “The Light Before Christmas,” a 40-minute magical animated wintry journey, will run daily at 10 a.m. starting Friday, Dec. 4, through Thursday, Dec. 24.
The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation’s own flagship film, “The Magic of Flight,” which first premiered on November 7, 1996, will continue to run daily through December. It will be converted to the new 4K digital format for exhibition when the theatre reopens. The tentative final film screening of “The Magic of Flight” will be December 31 at 1 p.m.
The decommissioning of old IMAX® equipment and renovation work will begin the first week of January and is expected to last through March.
The museum is scheduled to reopen the theatre in March with a grand opening ceremony. |
