Becas Ayudarán a los Estudiantes Inmigrantes a Alcanzar el Pleno Potencial
WASHINGTON, D.C. —El panorama para los estudiantes universitarios indocumentados que esperan asistir a la universidad está mas brillante esta semana.
TheDream.US anunció asociaciones con universidades del estado de Delaware y del estado de Connecticut del este para proporcionar becas de financiación privada a 500 estudiantes inmigrantes cuyos estados limitan las oportunidades para las personas por su condición de inmigrante.
     "La educación es un valor estadounidense; debemos ayudar a cada estudiante que ha trabajado duro ,” Donald E. Graham, un hombre de negocios de Washington y co-fundador de TheDream.US, dijo en un comunicado. "TheDream.US Opportunity Scholarship ayudará a los estudiantes inmigrantes a cumplir sus sueños de obtener una educación universitaria para que puedan mejorar la vida de sus familias, comunidades y nuestra nación."
     En la costa opuesta, la Universidad de California anunció un esfuerzo para apoyar a los estudiantes indocumentados, por una suma de más de $8 millones anuales durante los próximos tres años.
     "Estamos comprometidos a seguir un camino para los estudiantes indocumentados en la Universidad de California," dijo Janet Napolitano, presidenta de la Universidad de California. "Estos fondos fortalecen aún más la iniciativa del  estudiante indocumentado de la universidad, y ayudar a asegurar que estos estudiantes reciban el apoyo y los recursos que necesitan para tener éxito."

 

 Scholarships Will Help Immigrant Students Reach Full Potential
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The outlook for undocumented college students hoping to attend college got brighter this week.
TheDream.US announced partnerships with Delaware State and Eastern Connecticut State universities to provide privately funded scholarships to 500 immigrant students whose states limit opportunities for people with their immigrant status.
     “Education is an American value; we should help every student who has worked hard,” Donald E. Graham, a Washington businessman and co-founder of TheDream.US, said in a statement. “TheDream.US Opportunity Scholarship will help immigrant students fulfill their dreams of obtaining a college education so they can better the lives of their families, communities, and our nation.”
     On the opposite coast, the University of California announced an effort to support undocumented students, to the tune of more than $8 million annually over the next three years.
     “We are committed to continuing a path forward for undocumented students at the University of California,” University of California President Janet Napolitano said. “This funding will further strengthen the university’s undocumented student initiative, and help ensure that these students receive the support and resources they need to succeed.”
