El martes, 25 de enero investigadores de la
ofi cina del alguacil del condado de Okaloosa
contactaron a la ofi cina del alguacil del condado de Escambia y les comunicaron del robo a la tienda Petland de Mary Ester. Ellos pensaban que el sospechoso del robo ocurrido el 22 de enero se encontraba en el condado de Escambia y estaba tratando de vender la cotorra (con un valor de $1,500) por $200.

Los investigadores de la ofi cina del alguacil
del condado de Escambia, establecieron una
operación encubierta para planifi car un encuentro con el sospechoso.

El sospechoso fué contactado por teléfono y pensando que conversaba con un posible comprador, estuvo de acuerdo en reunirse en Music Lane de Nine Mile Road.

Alrededor de las 3:15 de la tarde, los
investigadores se encontraron con el sospechoso quien llegó a Pensacola en un taxi y compraron la cotorra por $200.

Una vez que la transacción fué completada,
los investigadores pusieron al sospechoso
(identifi cado como Michael Alan Lemonds de 43 años y residente de Pensacola) bajo arresto por vender propiedad robada.

Durante el transcurso de la investigación se descubrió que el chofer del taxi (identifi cado como Rodney Curtis Goldsmith de 37 años y también residente de Pensacola) era cómplice de Lemonds. Los investigadores también
descubrieron que Goldsmith se encontraba en
posesión de cocaína.

Goldsmith también fué arrestado por vender
propiedad robada, posesión de cocaína y su
vehículo fué incautado por haber sido utilizado
durante la comisión de un delito.

La ofi cina del alguacil del condado de
Okaloosa piensa obtener órdenes de arresto por robo y hurto mayor para ambos, Lemonds y Goldsmith.

PENSACOLA, FL – An Amazon Nape Parrot,
pictured at left, is back at home after being stolen during a burglary of a Mary Ester, Florida pet supply store.

On Tuesday, January 25, investigators with
the Okaloosa County Sheriff ’s Offi ce contacted the Escambia County Sheriff ’s Offi ce and told investigators about the burglary at Petland in Mary Ester. They believed the suspect in the burglary, which occurred on January 22, was in Escambia County and trying to sell the $1500 bird for $200.

Escambia Sheriff ’s investigators set up a “sting operation” to arrange a meeting with the suspect.

The suspect was contacted by phone and, thinking he was speaking with a prospective buyer, agreed to meet at Nine Mile Road and Music Lane.

At around 3:15 pm that afternoon, investigators met with the suspect, who arrived in a Pensacola Taxi, and bought the bird for $200.

Once the transaction was made investigators
placed the suspect, identifi ed as Michael Alan
Lemonds, 43, of Pensacola, under arrest for
dealing in stolen property.

During the course of this investigation it was discovered that the taxi driver, identifi ed as
Rodney Curtis Goldsmith, 37, of Pensacola, was an accomplice of Lemonds. Investigators also found cocaine in Goldsmith’s possession.

Goldsmith was arrested for dealing in stolen
property, possession of cocaine and his vehicle
was seized because it was used in the commission of a felony.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff ’s Offi ce intends
to seek arrest warrants for burglary and grand
theft on both Lemonds and Goldsmith.
