Latino Media Gulf Coast to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Hispanic Heritage Festival in Fort Walton Beach

In celebration of this year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month observance, Latino Media Gulf Coast Inc. presents the Hispanic Heritage Festival in Fort Walton Beach. The event will take place on Saturday, October 2 at the C.H. “Bull” Ridgon Fairgrounds located on Lewis Turner Blvd. from 10 a.m. until dark sponsored by Humana.

The Hispanic Heritage Festival offers a venue for the community to celebrate the rich and festive nature of the Hispanic culture through a diverse program that includes dance performances, live music and games. With a goal to feature local Latino talent including a variety of folk dance groups from different Latin countries such as Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Panama, guitarist Tim Peña, and an energizing Zumba demonstration.

Patrons will be able to learn more about Latino cultures, experience Latin flavors not typically found in local restaurants, and have the opportunity to win prizes by playing Loteria, a Mexican version of the popular Bingo game. Don’t forget to bring your pennies to play Penny Pitch, and get ready to grab candy from one of the most popular Hispanic party games: Piñata.

As with any Hispanic celebration, the Hispanic Heritage Festival will offer several food options including items from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Honduras. Some of the dishes available for purchase will be: pernil (roasted pork), arroz con pollo (chicken and rice), pescado frito (fried fish) among other delicious options.

Latino Media Gulf Coast is also organizing the Latino Festival in Pensacola scheduled for October 16. In both events, business vendors will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the local Hispanic community and offer their products and services. Businesses that are interested in becoming a vendor or sponsor at the Hispanic Heritage Festival in Fort Walton Beach may contact Grace Resendez McCaffery at (850)494-7899 or email info@latinomediainc.com.

The Hispanic Heritage Festival is a free event. For more information, please visit www.lacostalatina.com or call (850)494-7899.

*Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 thru October 14. During this time, Ecuador (August 10, 1809), El Salvador (September 15, 1821), Guatemala (September 15, 1821), Honduras (September 15, 1821), Mexico (September 16, 1810), Nicaragua (September 15, 1821) celebrate national independence day observances. This year, Mexico celebrates their bi-centennial.
